While in high school, Greg began a professional career as a musician and song writer that lasted throughout his life. He played keyboard instruments and provided background vocals for local bands, including Hydraulic Peach, Sun Machine, Afterglow, Blitz Dynette, Middleton Brothers, and the Stan Middleton Band. Greg was known for his musical skills across the nation and beyond. A highlight of his career was recording with Grammy Award Winner Joe Cocker.
Pete Wambach Sr.
Peter Cyrano Wambach, 90, known to millions of radio listeners through his byline "It's a beautiful day in Pennsylvania", died on Thursday, May 17, 2007.
He was a broadcaster-journalist for nearly 70 years, lecturer, columnist, politician, businessman, author, poet, and composer. His radio program "This is Pennsylvania" was heard daily over 100 radio stations throughout the state from 1964-1982, which earned him the name "Mr. Pennsylvania".
Pete wrote a daily column, "Around the Square" for The Patriot-News and more recently for the Paxton Herald for over 40 years. He instituted the first television-telephone talk show in the United States, was a statewide leader in the Democratic Party, and served as campaign manager, press secretary, speech writer and public relations specialist during the administrations of Governors Leader, Lawrence, and Shapp.
